Funkadelic (@george_clinton) – Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You Featuring Kendrick Lamar (@kendricklamar)

Presentation1It was only a matter of time before the atomic dog George Clinton got his hooks in Kendrick Lamar. The 2 are actually similar in that they are both constantly trying to expand the funk. George Clinton of Funkadelic fame is credited with stretching out the funk that James Brown created, James was uniform and tight together but Funkadelic was all over the place and was into space ships and other sci-fi stuff. Kendrick Lamar has expanded hip hop which is the child of funk, R&B, soul, Caribbean music and disco. Kendrick seems to be reaching for a new sound that hasn’t been heard for, but he does it with words and speech patterns. George Clinton and Funkadelic are one of the most if not the most sampled group in hip hop history and have always been welcoming to young hip hop artist that look up to them and want to work with them. So Kendrick and Clinton linking seems like a no-brainer. Press play and let the funk flow. This is the 10minute version.
